Illustration/cover design
The seagulls of Fehmarn

Project description

A completely different genre came to me with this project. A cover for a seagull crime novel! What a fun assignment, especially since it actually involves a gang of seagulls with very different characters. The customer wanted the skyline of Fehmarn in the background and specifically the five seagulls on a beach chair. No sooner said than done… after the first sketch with minor corrections, the motif was already decided and I could start coloring. Each seagull is a different species (except Fiete, he is a young herring gull) and it was a lot of fun to work on each one.
The illustration was created again in Photoshop with my XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro and the cover with title design, spine and back cover was created in InDesign.

The customer was thrilled and I’m looking forward to further volumes with the Möwengang about Mattis, Fiete and co. 😊

If you want to take a look and read a crime novel with a lot of humor, you can get the book on Amazon, Thalia and co.

Five seagulls hunt a murderer – an animal mission.

Mattis, who wants to recapture his true love.
Berti, who doesn’t want to go without warm rolls despite intestinal problems.
Pit, who steals the sandwiches from every sandpiper,
before the robbed person gets wind of it.
Haui, who gives headbutts faster than his shadow.
And Fiete, who likes to play human annoyance for his life.

Our savages not only risk their lives in the hunt for the murderer,
but also their friendship.
