Children’s audio book cover
Project description
This sweet commission for a Christmas children’s audio book came from Heike Hülsebusch. She needed a cover for it, but wasn’t quite sure about the motif yet 😊 After she sent me the text and the audio sample, we developed various motif ideas. It’s a wonderful story of how a plush toy becomes Rudolph the reindeer.
The cover should represent the main characters, but not foreshadow anything. That’s why we decided on the fourth idea: Liz on a frozen lake with her beloved stuffed animal. And the other characters are already slightly hinted at in the background. Of course with the corresponding touch of magic and wintery ambience.
The illustration was created on the iPad in Procreate, down to the basic color version. I then loaded the subject onto my desktop computer and made all the details, lights and adjustments in Photoshop. This is usually so computationally intensive that the iPad and Procreate wouldn’t be able to handle it in terms of technical performance 😊 I also integrated the title design into Photoshop.
The radio play will be released on Spotify at the end of September this year and will hopefully sweeten the joy of Christmas for many children.
