The Kalimba of Time

Project description

For the new series “Die Kalimba der Zeit” by C. F. Storms, a book cover / jacket with logo, lettering and other graphic elements was to be created. The cover contains elements that are repeated on the subsequent volumes and thus increase the recognition value. The book cover features both a triquetra (the symbol represents aspects of history and faith) and a snake with a kalimba (musical instrument).

Different background colors were also used for each part of the saga, thematically matching the title. Accordingly, the first volume has a dark green background. The elements and lettering are shown in gold to match, creating a harmonious overall picture.

The book series supports author C. F. Storms’ goal of creating reader-friendly fantasy books – ideal for readers who prefer short fantasy stories, fantasy books for those with dyslexia or fantasy novels for those who are reluctant to read.

Volume 1 was published this year (2026), more will follow 😊

A boy with no origins. A sign that silences everyone. A fate that will change the world.

Phelan only knows the remote Birkesdorf – a small village on the edge of the Great Forest, where he was once abandoned as a baby. With no origins, no history, just a wooden sign bearing his name.

Shortly before his tenth birthday, he is finally supposed to be part of the ancient ritual of the animal signs. But when the druid announces his sign, the villagers freeze. Celebration turns to fear – hope turns to worry. What began as a festive day ends in fear and exclusion.

Panicked, Phelan flees into the dangerous Lost Forest and encounters monsters and a mysterious faceless figure with a strange, magical object.

Phelan learns the true meaning of his sign and what tasks lie ahead of him that will determine nothing less than the fate of the world.

What does the sign really mean? And why does the balance of the world depend on a strange child of all people?
