Children’s book illustration
Oskar – An adventurous magic spring

Project description

A children’s book about a wombat… that’s something different 😊 I had the honor of designing the little wombat Oskar for Ms. Wenner and bringing it to life. Together with his girlfriend Smilla (a little ray of sunshine) he looks for spring and meets all sorts of different creatures and phenomena. Oskar will be a book series with 4 children’s books (one for each season). In each season he will then meet different animals and characters and explore the environment around him. The books are intended to introduce children to wombats, various unusual animals and the changes in the seasons.

The sketches and basic illustrations were created again on my iPad and then finalized in Photoshop on my computer. Of course, every step was discussed and approved with the customer. In the end, I created the book file again in Adobe InDesign and forwarded the finished print data to the appropriate print shop.
Ms. Wenner now has the finished books in her hand and is thrilled. The summer volume is already in the works 😉

The back cover text:

Oskar is a little wombat. He has been growing well protected in his mother Kylie’s pouch for more than six months – like all little wombats.

Now I’m grown up and I want to run, he decides one night. He is wide awake because large and small wombats are active at night and sleep during the day. Oskar can hardly wait to discover the world on his own paws. He deftly follows his mother in her great footsteps. It’s not enough that this is already an adventure…

It’s April. A cheeky elf passes the time with wild practical jokes, so that even spring hides. When Kylie wonders where spring is, Oskar’s curiosity is piqued. He sets out to look for him…Will Oskar meet the elf?
